Formed by Jay Farrar, Jeff Tweedy, and Mike Heidorn, the band carved out a sound that mixed rust‑belt grit, working‑class storytelling, and the high‑lonesome twang of classic Americana, culminating in landmark albums like No Depression, which became a genre touchstone.
