Traffic was an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1967 by Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood, and Dave Mason. While they were primarily known for their progressive rock and psychedelic sound, they incorporated jazz elements and improvisational techniques into their music, making them stand out in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Their debut album, Mr. Fantasy, featured hits like "Paper Sun" and "Hole in My Shoe," showcasing their experimental style. Over time, Traffic's sound evolved, with albums like John Barleycorn Must Die and The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys blending rock, folk, and jazz influences. The band underwent several lineup changes and disbanded in 1974, though they briefly reunited in 1994 for a final album and tour.

Traffic's innovative approach earned them critical acclaim and a lasting legacy, culminating in their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 20042.
