"The Trap Door" is a cult British claymation series from the 1980s, blending comedy and horror in bite-sized episodes. Originally aired in 1986 on ITV, The Trap Door follows the misadventures of Berk, a blue, blob-like servant who works in a spooky castle for the unseen “Thing Upstairs.” Berk’s curiosity often leads him to open the forbidden trap door, unleashing bizarre creatures from the depths below. He’s joined by Boni, a sarcastic talking skull, and Drutt, a hyperactive pet spider. Despite being aimed at children, the show’s eerie atmosphere, surreal humor, and gothic setting gave it a darker edge that resonated with older audiences too. Created by Terry Brain and Charlie Mills, the series ran for two seasons with a total of 40 episodes, each about five minutes long.
