Thompson Twins were an English pop band formed in 1977 in Sheffield, England. Initially a new wave group, they transitioned to a more mainstream pop sound and gained international popularity in the 1980s. Their best-known lineup consisted of Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway, and they were a key part of the Second British Invasion in the U.S..
They even performed at Live Aid in 1985, where they were joined on stage by Madonna. In 1993, they changed their name to Babble, shifting towards a dub-influenced chill-out sound before disbanding in 1996.
