The Prisoner a true cult classic! Created by and starring Patrick McGoohan, aired in 1967–1968 and blended spy fiction, psychological drama, and surrealism into something truly unique.
The story follows Number Six, a former British intelligence agent who resigns from his job, only to be mysteriously abducted and imprisoned in "The Village"—a seemingly idyllic yet sinister coastal settlement. Stripped of his name and assigned a number, he constantly resists the authorities who seek to break his will and uncover his secrets. His defiant cry, "I am not a number! I am a free man!", became an iconic line.
The show’s Kafkaesque atmosphere, cryptic storytelling, and philosophical themes—especially about individuality vs. control—cemented its status as one of the most influential sci-fi series of its time. It was filmed primarily in Portmeirion, Wales, a location that added to its eerie, dreamlike quality.
