The Outfield was an English pop rock band formed in London in 1984. The band consisted of Tony Lewis (vocals and bass), John Spinks (guitar and keyboards), and Alan Jackman (drums). Despite being a British band, they found greater success in the United States than in their home country.
Their debut album, Play Deep (1985), was a major hit, reaching No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and achieving double platinum status in the U.S.. The album featured their most famous song, "Your Love", which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became their signature track. Other notable songs include "All the Love" and "Voices of Babylon".
The band continued to release albums through the late 1980s and early 1990s, but their popularity declined over time. After Alan Jackman left in 1989, the band became a duo and experimented with different sounds. They briefly disbanded in the 1990s but reunited in 1998, releasing new music and touring. Their final album, Replay (2011), featured Jackman returning to the lineup.
