Stateside Records is a fascinating slice of British music history with a transatlantic twist. It was launched by EMI in 1962 to license and release American music in the UK, spotlighting genres like soul, R&B, and Motown before those labels gained a formal UK presence. Known for its distinctive dollar-sign logo, it played a key role in shaping British tastes by introducing iconic U.S. hits like “Baby Love” by The Supremes. Sadly though it was phased out in the 1970s.
