Sleep’s Vol. 2 is a short, raw 1992 EP that captures the band right as they were transforming from scrappy doom traditionalists into the monolithic, Sabbath‑worshipping riff machine that would soon create Sleep’s Holy Mountain. Released on the underground Swiss label Off The Disk, it features an intentionally mislabelled “1979 live” cover of “Lord of This World” plus early, rougher versions of “The Druid” and “Nain’s Baptism,” all drenched in thick fuzz, slow‑rolling grooves, and a DIY aesthetic that mirrors their obsession with Sabbath’s Vol. 4. Despite being only about 13 minutes long, it’s become a cult artefact—highly collectible, historically important, and a perfect snapshot of Sleep crystallising their signature stoner‑doom sound.
