Scars were a post-punk band from Edinburgh active between 1977 and 1982, known for their sharp guitar work, cerebral lyrics, and art-school sensibility. Their debut single “Adult/ery” on Fast Product and their only album Author! Author! (1981) captured the angular energy of Scotland’s post-punk scene alongside peers like Josef K and The Fire Engines. Fronted by Robert King with Paul Research on guitar, they fused glam, punk, and experimental textures into cult tracks like “All About You” and “Aquarama.” Though short-lived, Scars left a lasting imprint, later sampled by Lemon Jelly and briefly reuniting in 2010, their legacy preserved in bootlegs, retrospectives, and reverent fan tributes.
