Rigor Mortis were a Dallas–Fort Worth thrash metal band formed in 1983, known for blending blistering speed with horror‑film‑inspired lyrics and helping establish the early Texas underground metal scene. The classic lineup—Mike Scaccia (guitar), Harden Harrison (drums), Casey Orr (bass), and Bruce Corbitt (vocals)—crafted an extremely fast, technically demanding style that often bordered on death metal. Signed to Capitol Records in 1987, they released their influential self‑titled debut in 1988 and later reunited in the mid‑2000s, performing at events like Ozzfest 2008. The band’s history is marked by tragedy, including the onstage death of Scaccia in 2012 and Corbitt’s passing in 2019, after which surviving members continued performing the material under the name Wizards of Gore.
