Rainbow, also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, is a British rock band formed in 1975 by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore after his departure from Deep Purple. The band initially featured members of the American rock group Elf, including vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Over the years, Rainbow's lineup has seen numerous changes, with Blackmore being the only constant member.
Their music evolved from mystical hard rock and heavy metal to a more pop-rock-oriented style. Some of their most iconic albums include Rising (1976), Long Live Rock 'n' Roll (1978), and Down to Earth (1979), which featured the hit single "Since You Been Gone". The band disbanded in 1984 but reunited in 1993 and again in 2015, performing live occasionally until 20191.
