Psychic TV was an ever-evolving experimental collective led by Genesis P-Orridge, blending industrial noise, psychedelia, acid house, and conceptual art into a singular cultural force. Emerging from the remnants of Throbbing Gristle in the early 1980s, they challenged conventional music boundaries with cut-up techniques, multimedia performances, and a ritualistic aesthetic. Psychic TV's sound ranged from eerie, cinematic soundscapes (Dreams Less Sweet) to underground dance floor anthems (Jack the Tab), often masquerading under fictional aliases to playfully deconstruct pop and counterculture.

At the core of the group was an obsession with transformation—of the self, of society, and of media. Through their parallel creation, Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth (T.O.P.Y.), they blurred the line between fanbase and spiritual movement, channeling the ideas of Aleister Crowley, William Burroughs, and Brion Gysin into their art. Their prolific output (over 100 releases) and radical ethos helped lay the groundwork for modern avant-garde, industrial, and electronic scenes, making them not just a band but a sprawling, esoteric project of cultural reprogramming.
