Norse Irish Ferries was a ferry company that operated on the Irish Sea, providing passenger and freight roll-on/roll-off services between Belfast and Liverpool. It was founded in 1991 as a joint venture between the Norwegian Roed Group and a consortium of hauliers dissatisfied with existing ferry services. Initially, the company focused on freight transport, but later expanded to include passenger services.
In 1997, Norse Irish Ferries introduced two new Italian-built vessels, which also brought a fresh brand identity featuring a colorful Viking ship sail. The company was acquired by Cenargo in 1999 for $36 million, and in 2001, it merged with Merchant Ferries and Belfast Freight Ferries to form Norse Merchant Ferries. Eventually, Norse Merchant Ferries was taken over by Stena Line.
