Michael Faraday (1791–1867) was a pioneering English scientist whose groundbreaking work in electromagnetism and electrochemistry laid the foundation for modern physics and engineering. Despite having little formal education, Faraday's curiosity and dedication led to major discoveries, including electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism, and the laws of electrolysis. His invention of electromagnetic rotary devices paved the way for the development of electric motors.
Faraday also introduced key scientific concepts, such as the electromagnetic field, and discovered benzene as a chemist. His ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms made him a celebrated lecturer and educator. The SI unit of capacitance, the farad, is named in his honor, reflecting his immense contributions to science.
