Kevin Ayers and The Whole World was a band formed by Kevin Ayers in the early 1970s. Ayers, an English singer-songwriter, was a founding member of the psychedelic band Soft Machine and was closely associated with the Canterbury scene. The Whole World was assembled to tour Ayers' debut solo album, "Joy of a Toy," and included notable musicians such as Mike Oldfield, David Bedford, Lol Coxhill, Mick Fincher, and Robert Wyatt.
The band released the album "Shooting at the Moon" in 1970, which featured a mix of progressive rock, psychedelic rock, and experimental rock. The album included tracks like "May I?", "Clarence in Wonderland," and "Shooting at the Moon". Although the band disbanded shortly after the album's release, the members continued to contribute to Ayers' subsequent projects.
