Galaxie 500 was an American indie rock band that formed in 1987 and split up in 1991. The trio consisted of Dean Wareham (guitar/vocals), Damon Krukowski (drums), and Naomi Yang (bass/vocals). Their music is often described as dream pop, slowcore, and lo-fi psychedelia, drawing comparisons to The Velvet Underground.
Despite their short-lived career, Galaxie 500 left a lasting impact on indie music, influencing later bands with their atmospheric sound and introspective lyrics. After the breakup, Wareham went on to form Luna, while Krukowski and Yang continued as Damon & Naomi.
