Brainbombs are a Swedish noise rock and garage punk band formed in Hudiksvall in 1985, notorious for their abrasive, repetitive sound and highly controversial lyrical themes. Their music, often compared to a deranged version of The Stooges or The Cramps, mixes distorted guitars, pounding drums, and even trumpet blasts, while their lyrics depict extreme violence, sadism, and taboo subjects influenced by writer Peter Sotos. Albums like Burning Hell (1992), Genius and Brutality… Taste and Power (1994), and Obey (1995) cemented their cult status, and despite limited touring and underground distribution, they’ve remained active into the 2020s, continuing to provoke and polarize audiences with their confrontational aesthetic.
